We are actively looking for exceptional candidates to join our team. The new members will conduct state-of-the-art research at the interface of computational geomechanics and subsurface fluid mechanics, with applications to ongoing and emerging problems in the built environment.
The successful candidate must have a strong passion for studying geomechanics to solve pressing problems in our society. You should be highly self-motivated, genuinely interested in research, and equipped with good communication skills. Relevant experience and technical skills are a plus, but not necessary. We are committed to providing an academic environment where you can grow up through exciting and challenging tasks.
Usually, financial support can be provided by either one of the following:
Hong Kong PhD Fellowship/University Postgraduate Fellowship (Next nomination is in October 2019, and early contact is strongly recommended. See Voices of HKPF Awardees for the stories of past awardees)
Postgraduate Scholarship (1 position will be available for PhD starting in Fall 2020, and early contact is strongly recommended)
Project supported by the Research Grants Council of Hong Kong
We also welcome PhD/MPhil students with external/self financial support.
Hong Kong is more than a fantastic city to live. It is one of the few places where leading research in geomechanics is constantly motivated by, and applied to, real-world problems. Furthermore, civil engineering at The University of Hong Kong boasts a world-renowned reputation for excellence—as evidenced by that it is ranked #9 in the 2017 QS World University Rankings.
