Visit of Prof. Kok-Kwang Phoon

It was a pleasure to welcome Prof. Kok-Kwang Phoon from the Singapore University of Technology and Design to Seoul National University, co-hosted by Prof. Junho Song.

During his visit, Prof. Phoon delivered an invited lecture entitled ”Reducing uncertainties in site characterization for reliability-based design.“ He generously shared his valuable insights with our Geotechnical Group and Prof. Song’s Structural System Reliability Group, highlighting recent advances in probabilistic site characterization that integrate statistical inference, machine learning, and engineering judgment to better quantify and reduce these uncertainties.
