Visit of Professor Ning Lu

It was a pleasure to welcome Professor Ning Lu from the Colorado School of Mines to Seoul National University.

During his visit, Professor Lu delivered an invited lecture entitled “Impacts of Soil Water Potential on Soil Physical Properties.” He generously shared his valuable insights with our Geotechnical Engineering group, highlighting the fundamental role of soil water potential in governing a wide range of soil properties, including pore water pressure, hydraulic conductivity, effective stress, soil stiffness, thermal conductivity, and freezing behavior. His lecture offered an insightful perspective on the mechanics and physics of unsaturated soils, which are widespread in natural and built environments.
